Graph Engineering

Model your data as a graph, and run the engine that answers your questions on infrastructure you control.

01 — Scope

Answer connected-data questions on your own infrastructure.

When we can help

  • Questions about who can reach what, or what depends on what, take days of joins across separate tables.
  • A graph proof of concept works on one machine, and there is no agreed way to run it in production.
  • You need to choose a graph engine and have no comparison measured on your own data and queries.
  • Graph compute runs and costs continuously, although investigations are occasional.

What we do

  • Graph data models: what becomes an item, what becomes a connection and what stays a property
  • Graph databases on Kubernetes: deployment, storage, scaling, upgrades, backup and recovery
  • Graph workspaces that start when an investigation needs them and shut down afterwards
  • Engine selection measured against your own data and queries rather than a published benchmark
  • Cypher and SQL/PGQ queries, graph algorithms, and the API or SDK your teams call
  • Access control for graph data, including permission and identity graphs
  • Self-hosted deployment in your own cloud account or on premises

02 — Experience

Selected projects

Selected experience of the engineers behind Vio Engine, including work before the company was formed and through partner consultancies. Client names are withheld.

03 — Delivery

What your team can expect

  • A graph model agreed with the people who ask the questions, tested against their real queries
  • A deployment on your own infrastructure with documented upgrade, backup and recovery steps
  • An engine choice justified by measurements on your data, with its limits written down
Platforms and tools

Chosen around your environment and requirements.

  • Kubernetes and Helm
  • Neo4j, TigerGraph, FalkorDB, KuzuDB and other graph databases
  • DuckDB and SQL/PGQ
  • Cypher
  • KEDA and autoscaling
  • Terraform
  • Python and Java SDKs
  • Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks and Postgres as sources
